Homemade Hamburger Buns

Here is how we do our buns, hamburger and hot dog, brat etc...the recipe is a dear online friend's, Angelia over at Shepherd's Hill...of course, most often, we triple this ourselves, but here's the base recipe:

1 c. milk
1/2 c. water
1/4 c. butter
4 1/2 c. flour
2 Tbs yeast
2 Tbs sugar
1 tsp salt
1 egg

Heat milk, water and butter until warm (butter may not completely melt). Blend in half of flour, yeast and sugar, stirring to mix well. Add in eggs. Stir in remaining flour and mix well after each addition. Divide into 12 balls for hamb. buns or rectangles for hot dog buns. Flatten slightly -- roll tightly for hot dog -- and allow to rise 20-30 minutes on greased sheet. Bake at 400* for 10-12 minutes.
